It made our local news a couple of nights ago that a US senator made the comment in a house debate that the Afgan war was starting to lose to the Taliban. That the allies could not do it alone. Then the US house passes more money and troops along to Iraq and it seems our troops are left to fend for themselves, in a war not started by them. I just do not understand this. There are many differences between the US and Canadian systems. I freely admit I do not understand all the intricacies of the US system. I do know that until this Afgan invasion Canada had peacekeeping troops not troops that were prepared for wars. It hurts. It really does. If someone can explain to me why the US abandoned the war against the guy that brought down the trade centers and went after Iraq I would be willing to hear. It is a sad thing to think a friend or family member may have made this and sent it in to POST SECRET for me. I have a hard hard time with the holiday season. Bad things, bad memories, bad occurances, happened to me as a child at Christmas. It is very hard to get over them. Yes I have been to counselling but there is only so much that can be erased from ones mind. I am extra busy at work at this time of year as well, my social anxiety is put to the absolute test with all the get togethers and parties I must attend, and then just my personal belief that commercializm is far to rampant at this time of year. I try to keep Christmas a fun and enjoyable time for my kids and family. I really do. Santa came to visit. The kids had a great time.

One year ago the SJ community lost one of their children. Teegan died in her sleep with her parents on either side of her. It turned out to be a RSV infection, and it was that fast. My prayers to Sarah, Grant, Willie, Hank, and Dane and all their family and friends.

The daycare Christmas Party that my DS attends was held last night. DH did not make it in to attend, so I had both kids with me there alone. DS all of a sudden decided to become glue to my leg, and DD was not that much better. During crafts DS was Mommy you do it. We did a gingerbread family, a spiderweb, a bonboncup, and a star ornament, and and and SANTA came for a visit. After waiting in the line, DS is Mom I am hungry, so another kid hands him a chocolate cookie, he sees Santa is handing out oranges, so says he doesn't want the cookie. So it get thrown in the garbage, and he gets an orange instead. Got to love those good eating habits. LOL. And when it was time to go on Santa's knee, he is hiding behind my legs saying he is scared. So I pick him up and dump him on Santa's lap. He then proceeds to have a very thorough conversation with Santa. 1) It is pitch black outside at 5:30 pm, turn on your lights. If you have an older car you are totally invisible without them. If you have a car with running lights, you are still invisible from the rear. 2) Unplug your car before you drive away. Your extension cord flapping around on the road is a hazzard. DD was horrified at all the satisfactories she got. Totally horrified. I had to explain to her that they meant that she was perfect for where she should be right now. She had lots of above satisfactories and two not yet achieving. One was cooperation with others, and one was not participating in gym class. I asked her why, and she told me that she is not always picked for teams, so she just sits down on the bench. She is too shy to speak up and draw attention to herself. It is snowing, it is snowing, it is snowing. Bah-hum-bug North of us a little ways yesterday a nine year old boy fell asleep on a school bus. Then the errors started happening. The bus driver did not check the bus, the school did not call the home to ask why he wasn't in attendance, until the 1:00 pm check of after lunch roll call. I finished the items on Saturday and got them mailed this morning. Post office was crazy. The Christmas Mailing rush is on. This is Pokey he is a Ty Baby. My son has had him since he was six months old. I had him, and when I realized the attachment I got a spare. One could be in the wash, while DS had the other. When you have a kid with asthma the stuffies need washed often. When we were at West Edmonton Mall in October DS lost one. It was a very long night until Daddy brought up the spare the next day. I tryed to find another one, then Jennifer suggested ebay, so I bought one. It came. Last Friday when DS threw up all over Pokey, the new one was brought out. He is so soft Mommy, how did Pokey get new whiskers Mommy, he is so colourful Mommy. One happy little boy that he had a Pokey. What a difference four years of weekly washing makes. Well on Saturday DH took the kids out to the farm to visit Grandma Lilly. Guess what DH did. Forgot Pokey. So the old one comes back out. It was just a light powder when I left home this morning, now most things are white. There is ice on the river. Geese are finally flying south, I hope they all make it safely, it is late in the season, for them to be leaving. Why do I find it so hard to reach out and ask for help, when I need it. I withdraw totally into myself, and always try to deal with it myself. Was it because I was so isolated as a child. Was it because I never had affection demonstrated to me. Is it just that I am an introvert. I wonder. I get hurt, and I cannot express it to the person that did the hurting. I just withdraw and chalk it up to "that's life". Self esteem is a weird thing. Totally weird thing. I can be strong very very strong carrying the "weight" of the issues myself, but deep down inside I do not feel worthy. That scares me. The few people that I have ever shared that sentitment to have ended up using it against me. Yes I do have trust issues, I wonder why.

My Mom's older brother died on November 10. The day before Canadian Remembrance Day. He was a Korean Veteran. He was buried in a full military service on Thursday. Friday our computers at work crashed, and have been down. Lost time, lost money. I still cannot shake this sickness I have, sinuses, cough, runny, stuffy, just yucky feeling. Had his day at a dayhome yesterday. He came running to my arms and I asked him how his day went. Not very well he said. Talked to the daycare owner today to tell her I was looking elsewhere. She told me the one problem child is leaving end of November, and the other two problem ones have been given an 8 week probation to improve. I am so torn on what to do. So torn. Dentist for him this morning, really nice checkup, Mommy needs to brush better apparently. No cavities yet, but there is some calcification. OUCH. He is working on his wink, he can wink right, but not left yet. So cute. DD lost another tooth last night, the toothfairy told me she left a $10. DD tells me this morning that the toothfairy left her five....mmmm...little bit of a test there. They grow up so fast, I need to enjoy them more.

It is official, I finally booked the trip to Disneyland in February. I really really wanted a warm birthday for a change, so this year I am getting it. The delay has been DH. He didn't want to go, then he did, then he didn't, back and forth, over and over. arggggggg. Then he had to get approval from his work, and they kept telling him he couldn't book in 2008 till 2008. Not good enough. So Dinseyland, we are on our way. February 7 through the 16th. I am so looking forward to it.

My little guy is having a test day at a dayhome tomorrow. From an advertisement I saw in the paper. A very scary day for me. We will see if he will actually stay there tomorrow at dropoff. We went over and met her last week, and he did not want to leave. But who knows. I am a full time working Mom. I have had bad experiences in the last 7 years with dayhomes, registered and private, and daycares. It is a scary scary proposition. He has been at this daycare since April of 2005. I constantly get the please don't make me go mommy, I not go mommy, the tears, they just rip me to shreds. For the last couple of months though, since holidays ended, there has been, staff change after staff change, he moved up a room just before holidays, the daycare is for sale, and I get comments from him. The end of the war came on the 11th day of the 11th month at the 11th hour. We were taught this in school, the sad thing is I can remember that but I can never remember whether it was the first or second world war. I believe it was the first. Canada recognized all of our war veterans past, present, living, or dead on this day. It is a statutory holiday, and is a very reverend experience. My maternal grandfather fought in WWI. He was a sniper for the advance troops. He was shot a number of times. He lost fingers because of it, and lived the balance of his life with a bullet against the lining of his heart, back then operations are not what they are today. He went into the war at 16 lieing about his age, a full red head and when he got out he was totally white haired. His sons followed in his footsteps during the Korean War. Truly my little angel, I had this image in my mind of what I was trying to capture, and I just could not translate from my mind, to the camera. Well luvmyvespa came to my aid, and made this absolutely fantastic. I love love love the sun hitting the halo, that was my point of it. I am in love, I cannot wait to pick up the printed copy. So once again thank you. I wanted to do something simple and easy, for little gifts for caregivers at daycare and school from my kids. SOmething they could actually help with, if not do the most of.
