Have a very merry holiday and a wonderful new year! DS made this at a Christmas Party he attended.

Update on me

For those of you that do not know, I was hurt in a car accident late in October. It has pretty much been a pain in the neck ever since.

Candy is being missed

These are some pages I made many many years ago about Candy.

Goodbye Candi

I have a lori (type of parrot), for close to 20 years. During the summer she lost use of one of her legs, the vet was not sure why, we babied her all summer. Changed her eating areas, her cage LO, and tryed everything to help her. She never did regain use of the leg. Friday morning she was her normal self, I played with her, and she talked with me. At noon she did not have use of either leg. She was on the bottom of her cage suffering, like a bobble head, side to side, it was horrible to see. I took her back to the vet. He suggested that the prognosis was not good. We could have MRI'd her, x-rayed her, waited for a diagnosis, or upon his suggestion humanely put her out of her suffering. It was a horrible decision to make. DH was in tears, the two kids were bawling. My bird just coo'ed at us, and kept saying come here, come here, she wanted us. She looked at us. It was a horrible decision to make. I hate having someones life in my decision making power. My kitchen

Happy Birthday to my Niece

My neice turns 29 today. She was born way back in 1980. Such a long long time ago. When she was a little girl, I had her so much of the time. When she was "little" her Mom would drop her off with my Mom and me and she would be with us for weeks or months at a time. When I left home at 17, for some reason my sister stopped dropping her off at Moms and started dropping her off with me. I worked, went to school, was a single parent in all intents and purposes to a child that was not my own. This continued for years. Once she started school, she would get left with me for the summer, or holidays. I often had to scramble to find child care in a city that I was not familiar with. At times I thought she would end up with me permanently. I took her places, bought her things, she went travelling and camping with us. I sent her to camps. Basically she was like my own kid. Or so it seemed. Then I got hurt, I couldn't do the things I used to do. Money was more of an is

Happy Thanksgiving

Monday is Canadas Thanksgiving: I am thankful for: 1) Living in a country as great as Canada 2) Having my two children with me every day 3) Having a job 4) Having the ability to be creative 5) Thankful that I have those friends in my life that mean so much to me.

Pink Hair

Image
In August I wanted blue streaks in my hair. Being a dark brunette the hair person said blue doesn't work that well so went with magenta. The magenta looks pink on me. WHen I had it retouched in September DD wanted hers done. We did it peekaboo so that most of the time it is not visible. A friend french braided it one day, and wow was it visible.

Monday Mayham

Kids off to school today, one of the few mornings DS didn't put me through the wringer getting ready to go. Tony won the NASCAR race yesterday, woohoo, and Mark is still leading in points. Girl Guides went camping Friday night, and Saturday night. Very cool weather around 2 degrees celcius, which is about 35 F. Although it didn't snow on me at home, it did snow saturday night on the girls. They moved from the tents into the eating building and slept in there. She loved it though. I am seriously trying to cut out TV, I have eliminated all the CSI shows, the Law and order shows. I am trying to not even have a tv turned on. Some are creeping in on me though. Dexter is riviting for me, I love the vigilante in it. Biggest Loser is still motivational for me. Then there is SUrvivor, and the same night in Flash Forward. I still like Flashpoint as well. Although I thought it was cancelled. Saturday nights are still Americas Most Wanted. If I am what I watch I must be one

Record Breaking temps

Calgary broke a recorded record temperature for a high for the first day of fall. Never in recorded history has it been that warm. It even made yahoo news. We are enjoying the hot temps, and the kids have been playing in the sprinkler. Lots of fun.

Norris Geyser Basin

Image
Pure desolation in places, something along the lines of what I think hell might look like. Then around a curve in the path is pure beauty. It was at this particular basin that you really could believe you were standing on a real live volcano. Pretty nerving to think that. Most of Yellowstone looks so similiar to our parks and our non-volcanic mountains it was easy to dismiss the volcano theory. This basin though really made one think about it. There are more thermal "things" in Yellowstone than the rest of the world put together. We were told # 2 is Iceland.

Between here and there

I am between here and there. I won't be back until September. Bye Y'all

Shout out to TONY STEWART!

Man you rock, you totally rock. Even though I didn't get to see the rain delayed race (one of my favorites), it was awesome to know Tony won. WOOHOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! For a man that had such issues with temper, that often interferred with his driving, being his own boss has done wonders for him. I think he is like me and wanting to be in control. Keep it up Tony!

Monday August 10, 2009

DD starts at SunnyBrook for her very last week of camp today. She is surprised and shocked at how fast the summer went by. There are two baby black bunnies left and the Mama.

Sunday August 9, 2009

Did some running around for some last minute camping things, did marshmellows int he backyard after supper on the BBQ.

Saturday August 8, 2009

I got my hair done, with pink highlights on the under layer, I really like it. We set up the tents in the back yard with trial run for camping out.

Friday August 7, 2009

Went out to G for the evening, watched some TV then sat in the hot tub, discussing times past. Not sure if that was good or bad, but man I loved the hot tub. We really need one. I hit a check stop on the way back into town. It was funny, my drivers liscense was in my purse behind my seat, and the registration was on the far side of the van under the passenger seat. The RCMP was very nice about it though.

Wednesday August 4, 2009

Picked up the kids then took them to Parkland Mall for haircuts, and picking a few things up. Turned into a marathon shopping trip at wal-mart. Back to school clothes for DD, and a new swim suit for me.

Tuesday August 4, 2009

DD is starting dance camp today, DS is counting down that he has only 9 days of daycare left. I took the kids to the Collicut water park after I picked them up today. Had a great time in the water for a couple hours.

Monday August 3, 2009

Today is Civic Day, I took Mom and the kids out to the farm for the day to visit with MIL. It was cool and overcast and I tried to get some new pictures. Enjoyed the visit.

Sunday August 2, 2009

DH and I went to the ROcking Red Deer car show today. I tired quickly. Then I took DS to old navy to buy some back to school clothes. I actually now know someone that hates shopping more than me. LOL

Monday August 1, 2009

I am still so freaking sick, I feel like I could die. I hate being sick, I hate puking, I hate having fever and chills.

Friday July 31, 2009

Thursday July 30, 2009

Wednesday July 29, 2009

More testing today. Lots of blood work, twice today. Still not feeling well. I hate being sick, and I hate being less of a mom than I could be.

Tuesday July 28, 2009

DS is six today. WOW , where did the time go? I had to go to the hospital for a test with barium this morning. Kind of dejavue that six years ago at the same time I was going to the hospital to get induced.

Monday July 27, 2009

The Spoon Theory

For those of you that know me, and know my chronic pain and fibro issues you may or may not get this story, for those of you that do not know me, it may make you understand someone you do know better. The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino www.butyoudontlooksick.com My best friend and I were in the diner, talking. As usual, it was very late and we were eating French fries with gravy. Like normal girls our age, we spent a lot of time in the diner while in college, and most of the time we spent talking about boys, music or trivial things, that seemed very important at the time. We never got serious about anything in particular and spent most of our time laughing. As I went to take some of my medicine with a snack as I usually did, she watched me with an awkward kind of stare, instead of continuing the conversation. She then asked me out of the blue what it felt like to have Lupus and be sick. I was shocked not only because she asked the random question, but also because I assumed she

DeJa Vue

Back in 1990, my DH and I were in an accident. DH was driving and waiting to make a left hand turn. We were rearended by a car doing 60 mph / 100kph that car then went into incoming traffic and was run over by a loaded oil tanker truck. I knew the people that hit us, DH knew the truck driver that hit the other car. The driver was killed, the husband died later of injuries sustained in the accident. Our lives were never the same. Now DH had been at a drivers safety course a few weeks before. One thing they had been told to do was never turn your wheels into a turn. Always keep them pointing straight a head until you can complete your turn. That bit of knowledge saved my life, and most likely DH life. Due to his wheels pointing straight ahead, when we were rearended we were pushed straight ahead, not into the path of the oncoming truck. **** Please always keep your wheels straight when waiting to turn.****** This is a story from our local paper. Police investigating three-vehic

Shaw Cable Sucks

:eek :eek About a month ago there was a really really bad storm, really rained hard. I noticed the next night that our cable in the living room had channels it wouldn't pick up, and some were pixelated. I waited until that weekend for DH to get home for him to figure it out. He couldn't get it working. Called in. They tried some stuff and couldn't get it working. Told him there would have to be a service call. He waits until he knows he can be home early during the week and calls for service and there was no record of his previous call, or logging what they had tried to do. So they go through what they already had gone thorugh. And couldn't fix it. So he makes a service appointment call. The guy comes out cannot get it to work, and says the cable box is probably dieing. Instead of DH immediately getting a new one he decides to talk to me about it???? So another week goes by. I buy one last Friday, and he tries to get it set up on Friday night. Guess what it

Summer Camps

DD is in a climbing camp this week. Our local recreation facility has three climbing walls in it. She has done the one wall numerous other times, in other camps. This week is specifically climbing related, and is levelled. It must be good, she came home exhausted, bruised, scraped, blistered, and sore and she said it was all worth it. LOL

Severe Weather

Image
Saturday night had some severe weather move through our area. These were taken by a co-worker. And the cable was out so I missed the race where Tony won spectacularly and the wanna be a tree crashed. I do not like to see anyone crash and get hit like that (NASCAR replays on the net are wonderful) but so glad Tony got another win. And extended his points lead. DH went to the IHRA races in Edmonton, and the kids were at Grandmas, I got some much needed me time.

Yesterday was Canada Day

I decided to take the kids and my mom to the local canada day celebration. Within two minutes of getting there DD is going I am bored, then DS picked it up. He didn't want to walk around, look at any of the booths, get a flag, get tattoos, nothing.... I was not about to stay and listen to that crap all afternoon... So DD stayed with mom, and I took DS home On the bus he asks me if I am mad at him, I told him I was disappointed at the decision he made, that I had really wanted to be there and because he wanted to be miserable, I didn't get what I wanted to do. I told him that made me sad. As we are walking from the bus drop off to the van, he asks me how long Daddy and I have been married, I tell him Daddy and I have been together for a long long time. He says well WHEN did you get married. I tell him we never did. So he stops and hugs me and says, that when he grows up he will marry me and make me happy. LOL (I didn't know boys did that) LOL I reinforced later as he was goi

School is almost out:

I loved looking through her learning journal, her art journal, and her writing journal last night. Seeing how far she has come in a year, and seeing what she has done all year long. It was absolutely amazing to see, I am so glad the school does the journals and sends them home. I do not remember that from when I was a kid. Her page on dreams: I want to be a vetrinarian when I grow up (this I knew) and then she had added and be very very rich and live in a castle and marry a prince. LOL Her favorite field trip of all: was a lunch out to an Indian Restaurant, which surprised me as she hates spicy food at home. I was just so happy sharing her memories with her last night, hearing her read her stories, and giggle, see her work. Hard to believe that grade three is done tomorrow, report cards are picked up on the 30th.

NASCAR swap

Did this for a NASCAR swap I am in for CTMH products. Do 14 get 14, and I did two extra.

Oh Sherri (journey)

Oh SHerri

Surprize surprize

I took DS to a city sponsored event last night called Moms and Sons. They had hockey, soccer, football, golf, bean bag toss, and a bunch of other games. Only for Moms and sons. DS wanted to play checkers, I was played out and thought sitting down would be heaven. He proceeded to beat me at checkers. I asked him how he had learned to play? He answers on the computer. The mother sitting at the table with us, almost doubled over laughing, she said the look on my face was priceless. Apparently webkinz world has checkers, that he plays, he is a good little player, planning moves out in advance and trapping me.

RIP little hamster

My First Pet Hamster I Love You. Doesn't DS look amazed by that little critter. And yes he looks like Stuart Little, but his name is Austin. (don't ask). There is an acrylic tag over the little critter in the title, THis little fellow was dead this mornign when we got up. DS was heartbroken. I reminded him about all the good times, and the fun things, he was so sad. We got him back in September of 2007, so he is old in hamster years. My First Pet Hamster I Love You. An old friend of mine from Scrapjazz has passed away. Once upon a time we were very close. It is due to her stories of her bunnies and her inspiring stories that I ended up adopting our two rabbits.
