Oscar T. Grinch

I got this in a Christmas Card last night.

And the Grinch, with his Grinch-feet ice cold in the snow; stood puzzling and puzzling, how could it be so? It came without ribbons. It came without tags. It came without packages, boxes or bags. Then the Grinch thought of something he hadn't before. What if Christmas, he thought, doesn't come from a store. What if Christmas, perhaps, means a little bit more. Dr Seuss

It fit me so well, I don't like the commercialism of Christmas, the rude, greedy people, the hype of the season. To me it should be the small intimate family affair reflective of the birth of Christ.

Call me dysfunctional, the scrouge, or whatever, but I believe Christmas is a time meant to pull the family together for quality time. Not for all the other junk that happens.

I totally agree with you. Christmas is out of hand, in my opinion.

I agree with you too. This will be the first year I've not had any of my family with me for Christmas. I accepted that and planned a nice Christmas with my hubby and kids....now I have to be the happy hostess to two strangers that just moved here and my DH decided to invite without asking me first. So much for the small family celebration. Sorry had to get that out and I knew you'd listen.

I couldn't agree more Oscar - I don't send Christmas Cards as I think it's more important to be a part of people lives right throughout the year, rather than a token card at Christmas time. I much prefer to handmake gifts for my family (the kids are little different but we don't go overboard by any means)and I alway bake gifts for my close friends each Christmas - they love it and they are gifts from the heart, not bought from a store :)
