A real little boy:

Many of you have read about my trials and tribulations with my DS. Issues that we have had, behavior problems, eating issues. It just never seems to end.

Last night though I had very happy almost tears in my eyes due to DS.

DS has expressed jealousy over his sisters Brownie badges this year. He has said a number of times that he wants to join Brownies. I have explained it is only for girls but that he could join cubs (scouts) next year.
So Wednesday night for Thinking Day DD has a joint Brownie and Scout meeting at a different school and night.

Well the schout leader and I got to talking and he said to drop by with DS the following night, as the Beavers were meeting then.

So last night I take DS to a Beaver meeting. He was glued to my leg at the beginning, then he went to play with the balls. Then he went to circle time. He comes running back to me and I am thinking ohoh. Well he asks what to do and I tell him to do what the other kids do. Well I didn't see him for the rest of the hour. He sat in circle, he participated, he put up his hand to ask questions, he petted the Beaver, he raced the carts, he did so many things like a REAL little boy. I had tears in my eyes watching him. One of the first times in a long time that I felt deep in my heart that he might really be okay.

Then they start to hand out badges. I think ohoh this isn''t going to go well. He did excellent. He picked just one of the three offered, I thought it was so nice of them to offer as he was only visiting.

During the evening every so often he would look for me at the end of the room and give me the thumbs up sign, and I would give one back.

He did so well. So very well. One happy Mommy and one happy DS.

Then at the end he says he doesn't want to come back next week. Oh Oh. He then says he wants to come back every night. LOL

All he needs is something to make him feel a part of, and that would do the trick. He found something on his own. Good for him.

Sounds wonderful Sherri. He is such a cutie and how proud you must have been when he chose only the one badge. Onya Austin. xxx
