The Spoon Theory

For those of you that know me, and know my chronic pain and fibro issues you may or may not get this story, for those of you that do not know me, it may make you understand someone you do know better. The Spoon Theory by Christine Miserandino www.butyoudontlooksick.com My best friend and I were in the diner, talking. As usual, it was very late and we were eating French fries with gravy. Like normal girls our age, we spent a lot of time in the diner while in college, and most of the time we spent talking about boys, music or trivial things, that seemed very important at the time. We never got serious about anything in particular and spent most of our time laughing. As I went to take some of my medicine with a snack as I usually did, she watched me with an awkward kind of stare, instead of continuing the conversation. She then asked me out of the blue what it felt like to have Lupus and be sick. I was shocked not only because she asked the random question, but also because I assumed she

DeJa Vue

Back in 1990, my DH and I were in an accident. DH was driving and waiting to make a left hand turn. We were rearended by a car doing 60 mph / 100kph that car then went into incoming traffic and was run over by a loaded oil tanker truck. I knew the people that hit us, DH knew the truck driver that hit the other car. The driver was killed, the husband died later of injuries sustained in the accident. Our lives were never the same. Now DH had been at a drivers safety course a few weeks before. One thing they had been told to do was never turn your wheels into a turn. Always keep them pointing straight a head until you can complete your turn. That bit of knowledge saved my life, and most likely DH life. Due to his wheels pointing straight ahead, when we were rearended we were pushed straight ahead, not into the path of the oncoming truck. **** Please always keep your wheels straight when waiting to turn.****** This is a story from our local paper. Shaw Cable Sucks

:eek :eek About a month ago there was a really really bad storm, really rained hard. I noticed the next night that our cable in the living room had channels it wouldn't pick up, and some were pixelated. I waited until that weekend for DH to get home for him to figure it out. He couldn't get it working. Called in. They tried some stuff and couldn't get it working. Told him there would have to be a service call. He waits until he knows he can be home early during the week and calls for service and there was no record of his previous call, or logging what they had tried to do. So they go through what they already had gone thorugh. And couldn't fix it. So he makes a service appointment call. The guy comes out cannot get it to work, and says the cable box is probably dieing. Instead of DH immediately getting a new one he decides to talk to me about it???? So another week goes by. I buy one last Friday, and he tries to get it set up on Friday night. Guess what it

Summer Camps

DD is in a climbing camp this week. Our local recreation facility has three climbing walls in it. She has done the one wall numerous other times, in other camps. This week is specifically climbing related, and is levelled. It must be good, she came home exhausted, bruised, scraped, blistered, and sore and she said it was all worth it. LOL

Severe Weather

Image
Saturday night had some severe weather move through our area. These were taken by a co-worker. And the cable was out so I missed the race where Tony won spectacularly and the wanna be a tree crashed. I do not like to see anyone crash and get hit like that (NASCAR replays on the net are wonderful) but so glad Tony got another win. And extended his points lead. DH went to the IHRA races in Edmonton, and the kids were at Grandmas, I got some much needed me time.

Yesterday was Canada Day

I decided to take the kids and my mom to the local canada day celebration. Within two minutes of getting there DD is going I am bored, then DS picked it up. He didn't want to walk around, look at any of the booths, get a flag, get tattoos, nothing.... I was not about to stay and listen to that crap all afternoon... So DD stayed with mom, and I took DS home On the bus he asks me if I am mad at him, I told him I was disappointed at the decision he made, that I had really wanted to be there and because he wanted to be miserable, I didn't get what I wanted to do. I told him that made me sad. As we are walking from the bus drop off to the van, he asks me how long Daddy and I have been married, I tell him Daddy and I have been together for a long long time. He says well WHEN did you get married. I tell him we never did. So he stops and hugs me and says, that when he grows up he will marry me and make me happy. LOL (I didn't know boys did that) LOL I reinforced later as he was goi
