Living with chronic pain

Chronic pain sucks - I live with it daily, I survive it daily, I battle it daily, I try to avoid it, and forget it is there, I fill my life with activities to try to overcome it. On some days though it crashes through in brutal reality. To have to heave over the white elephant due to pain is not good. The naseau, the quiziness, the lack of focus, and concentration impact every ability I have. I do not talk about it often, to those around me, or those I know on line, I offer advice to others on what works or hasn't worked for me. Some take my knowledge and apply it and give things a try, just as I do with what others offer. I am a fighter. I was offered permanent disability back in 1997. I did not take it. I could not see spending the rest of my life sitting and wallowing. I still cannot see myself doing that. I fight for my life every single day. Right now with fall coming and the cool dampness every early morning and evening I hurt. I hurt bad. Every joint and mus

Stone Gods

the stone gods by Jeanette Winterson The first part of this book once you get used to the prose it is written in is a wonderful read, has you on the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next. The middle of the book still has me wondering - why was it even included - in no way does it relate to anything. The ending is just plain weird. I just do not get the whole thing. All in all an easy evening read, a disclaimer though that their is heavy emphasis on lesbism in the book offset by giving both characters "male" names. Paula if you read this please email me - my computer was sanitzed and I lost my email addys.

What we do have.....

What I saw at West Edmonton Mall .... didn't shop but did see M.A.C. (cosmetics) Sephora (cosmetics) The Childrens Place Gymboree there was something else I was surprised to see but do not remember what now. Someday I will head up by myself so I can browse myself. Dentist Adventures: I was to get my teeth lined last Wednesday, but my TMJ was so swollen it was recheduled for yesterday. I had to make two trips to my dentist and they HURT my mouth. I have to go back today and have them checked. DS was getting his teeth cleaned yesterday, and DD had her normal appliance adjustment yesterday. Both at the same dentist at same time. Then DS starts throwing up once we leave, the smell of that in the hot hot van was ewwwwwwwwwwwwwww. I handled that for an hour, called the dentist and they said it was probably the flouride that upset his tummy. ewwwwwwwwwwwwww DD was told her appliance is almost where it needs to be and will be getting an holding arch soon, so I had her histronics over th

Wild Weekend (for me)

Saturday I decided to head up to Edmonton for the day. DH did not want to go, so Mom, I and DD went. We went to the Telus World of Science and saw the Coral Reef IMAX show, which I loved. The music for the show was Crosby, Stills, Nash, very appropriate. Great show. Then we saw the Body Worlds exhibit. This is the show with real bodies used as the exhibit. Not quite what I expected but very informative and educational. DD was a little freaked out by seeing the man parts, she learned lots of other things though. Then we headed over to West Edmonton Mall. The largest mall in the world. or was until the Mall of America was built by the same owners. We were on the hunt for School back packs and lunch buckets. We hit the disney store. My DD is growing up she did not want a princess one. DS decided on the pirates of the caribean one, shocked me , I would have thought he would have taken buzz lightyear. Go figure. Disney was sold out of hannah montana ones. SO we go to find

Monday Meanderings:

DS has 15 days left at daycare. Then it is kindergarten. DD is in dance camp this week, she is really looking forward to it. I want to go to Edmonton and see Body Works, anyone else seen it. A trip to the Calgary Zoo would be nice. A trip out to the mountains would be nice. I think I have the travelling bug. DH worked one weekend, I was gone the next, then he worked this past weekend, and next weekend is his scheduled weekend to work. That is many many weeks without seeing him. Our friend Gooch is in the hospital with complications from diabites and obesity. It is touch and go if he will live. He is such a young man (my age), and has the biggest heart I have ever seen. It is scary. A fellow CMA and friend who successfully battled breast cancer a few years ago is fighting it again. Cancer sucks. We had a storm Friday night that was insane. My lawn had inches of hail on it, and the water and wind was extreme. The thunder and lightening scary.

Where you will soon be

Where you will soon be A small effort now can make a big difference later. You can dramatically increase the effectiveness of your actions simply by taking them sooner. As you go through the moments of this day, you are creating many of the circumstances in which you will live tomorrow. A few small, positive actions right now can bring great value as you move forward. You cannot change where you already are. Yet you can have a significant and dramatic effect on where you will soon be. Live this moment with joy, with purpose and with passion. And use this moment to inject into your life and your world the kind of substance and value that can last a lifetime. You cannot instantly change your circumstances. You can, however, instantly change the direction in which you're headed. Point yourself firmly and resolutely in the direction of your dreams. For where you choose right now to go, is where you will soon be. -- Ralph Marston

Future Fridays

- focusing and reinforcing the positives rather than dwelling and being involved in the negatives - finding something fun out of each day, I need to laugh more - focusing on self, I need to be happy to make others around me happy - I took the kids to a play ground on Tuesday afternoon. I suggested they play follow the leader. They both looked at me like WHAT? So I showed them, we played follow the leader being silly, and laughing and had a great time. - Wednesday I took them to a local fountain in the afternoon. It was awesome to see them playing around in it. - Wednesday I reconnected with an old friend that I do not see nearly enough of. That was awesome. - Thursday I concentrated on catching up on some of me sleep deprivation. That was awesome. However the kids told me this morning I was sleepwalking and woke them both up. How is that for a change around. LOL. - Walking at noon yesterday and today just to refresh and regroup. Love my river valley. I would have said today

I left my heart in Texas

San Antonio is an awesome place. The ambience is so intriquing, so out of this world I just fell in love. The history, the quaintness, the possibilities are awesome there. I will say though it is HOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I am not used to heat or humidity. The first words out of my mouth Friday morning were whats wrong with my skin. My wonderful Texan roommate says in her Texan drawl That my dear would be humidity. LOL. Margaritas are awesome, I was getting free samples where-ever I went it seemed, love my tequila. Bought a bottle for $23 at duty free in Denver on my way home, that is so inexpensive. I got to talk to my friend Mary in Denver, that was great. And to old friends and new friends in San Antonio it was wonderful meeting you all, laughing with you all, and spending time with you all. I did Seaworld on Sunday and loved it, I then wandered on the riverwalk after dark, what a magical place. I did the riverboat tour, and just strolled, the musicians doing their ja
