Merry Christmas

Image
If you don't see or hear from me before 2008 do not be concerned. My cards I made for the exchange, and the general card that went out.

Dear Santa please keep our troops safe:

It made our local news a couple of nights ago that a US senator made the comment in a house debate that the Afgan war was starting to lose to the Taliban. That the allies could not do it alone. Then the US house passes more money and troops along to Iraq and it seems our troops are left to fend for themselves, in a war not started by them. I just do not understand this. There are many differences between the US and Canadian systems. I freely admit I do not understand all the intricacies of the US system. I do know that until this Afgan invasion Canada had peacekeeping troops not troops that were prepared for wars. It hurts. It really does. If someone can explain to me why the US abandoned the war against the guy that brought down the trade centers and went after Iraq I would be willing to hear. Until then Dear Santa, please keep our troops safe. Afghanistan: Reviewing the war SEATTLE POST-INTELLIGENCER EDITORIAL BOARD While the Bush administration touts its many successes in Ir

Merry Season and goodbye to BAH-HUMBUG

Image
It is a sad thing to think a friend or family member may have made this and sent it in to POST SECRET for me. I have a hard hard time with the holiday season. Bad things, bad memories, bad occurances, happened to me as a child at Christmas. It is very hard to get over them. Yes I have been to counselling but there is only so much that can be erased from ones mind. I am extra busy at work at this time of year as well, my social anxiety is put to the absolute test with all the get togethers and parties I must attend, and then just my personal belief that commercializm is far to rampant at this time of year. I try to keep Christmas a fun and enjoyable time for my kids and family. I really do. As DH and I were wrapping presents yesterday when the kids were at Mom's we were talking about the difference between last Christmas and this one. Last year we were watching pennies, making gifts to save money, and wondering when the blow would fall. This year we are thankful that our kid

Santa came to visit. The kids had a great time.

Prayers for Teegan and her family....

One year ago the SJ community lost one of their children. Teegan died in her sleep with her parents on either side of her. It turned out to be a RSV infection, and it was that fast. My prayers to Sarah, Grant, Willie, Hank, and Dane and all their family and friends.

Daycare Christmas Party

The daycare Christmas Party that my DS attends was held last night. DH did not make it in to attend, so I had both kids with me there alone. DS all of a sudden decided to become glue to my leg, and DD was not that much better. During crafts DS was Mommy you do it. We did a gingerbread family, a spiderweb, a bonboncup, and a star ornament, and and and SANTA came for a visit. After waiting in the line, DS is Mom I am hungry, so another kid hands him a chocolate cookie, he sees Santa is handing out oranges, so says he doesn't want the cookie. So it get thrown in the garbage, and he gets an orange instead. Got to love those good eating habits. LOL. And when it was time to go on Santa's knee, he is hiding behind my legs saying he is scared. So I pick him up and dump him on Santa's lap. He then proceeds to have a very thorough conversation with Santa. He wants his white train with multi colorered polka dots, he would like more chocolate cause his sister ate all of his

Driver Education 101

1) It is pitch black outside at 5:30 pm, turn on your lights. If you have an older car you are totally invisible without them. If you have a car with running lights, you are still invisible from the rear. 2) Unplug your car before you drive away. Your extension cord flapping around on the road is a hazzard. And once it has pulled out your heater core it is more of a hazzard. 3) Do not wrap your extension cord around your side view mirror and tie it, when it unravels and you drive over it, guess what your side view mirror comes off, creating yet another hazzard. 4) When it snows, clean your vehicle off for visibility reasons. When you are driving with all windows covered and a two inch hole to look through you are a hazzard. 5) Scrape the frost of your vehicle, or warm it up longer so you can see. 6) If you are one of the few that has cleaned their vehicle off or scrapped snow, then put the brush in the vehicle. Leaving it on the roof, creates a hazzard when it flys off. Then do

Thursday Thrashings.....

Anyone know of a reputable on line company to buy cuttlekid dies from that will ship to Canada? Also still looking for a white train to alter.....LOL Report cards came out on Monday. DD was horrified at all the satisfactories she got. Totally horrified. I had to explain to her that they meant that she was perfect for where she should be right now. She had lots of above satisfactories and two not yet achieving. One was cooperation with others, and one was not participating in gym class. I asked her why, and she told me that she is not always picked for teams, so she just sits down on the bench. She is too shy to speak up and draw attention to herself. I think this one has to go back on the teacher to ensure that she has opportunity to participate. Am I wrong in thinking that? We are talking grade two. DS has his Christmas party at daycare tonight. There is a cookie sale to raise funds for the ECS room. I made oreo balls, and man I thought it would be simple and it was not. e

Wednesday Wanderings

It is snowing, it is snowing, it is snowing. Bah-hum-bug North of us a little ways yesterday a nine year old boy fell asleep on a school bus. Then the errors started happening. The bus driver did not check the bus, the school did not call the home to ask why he wasn't in attendance, until the 1:00 pm check of after lunch roll call. Keep in mind it is WINTER here, cold, windy, snowy. This scares every parent that buses kids somewhere. DD wants to know from any of the down under girls if they have ever had 50 degrees C weather? or experienced it? and just how hot that is? Hottest my DD has ever been in is about 33 C. They are learning about the world for Christmas. Poncho I look forward to seeing your Santa garfield every year. Just like it is not Christmas season until I hear snow white boomers. Thanks to Jenny I have it. LOL. The kids ask for it all the time. Is all I want for Christmas a hippopotamous a song that is played other places than here? Not sure if I like it,

Pay It Forward - Is now mailed !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

SO Leslie, Kristen, Lori, and Georgina keep an eye out for your Pay It Forward Handmade item from me. I apologize for it being 6 weeks late. Sometimes life transpires against my creativity. I finished the items on Saturday and got them mailed this morning. Post office was crazy. The Christmas Mailing rush is on. Canada got pretty nailed with winter from the west coast right to the east coast. We have the cold and some snow, but not near the winds or volume of snow other places received. The Singing Christmas tree at church was fantastic. I experimented with the Rebel XTI sans flash for pictures of the lights. Some turned out some didn't. It was a good learning experience. Austin was upset that Daddy left for work before giving him hugs and kisses. Hard to explain that at 4:30am he was sleeping. Then I got the first time in ages the I don't want to go to daycare. When I told him J would no longer be there he perked up some. We have left him at the daycare he has att
